Who We Are

Our mission is to divert single-use plastics, tools, waste textiles, and timber from landfills.

We do this by repurposing them into beautiful and functional items. Additionally, we serve as a tech support hub for litter picking, recycling, beach cleaning, repair, materials research, innovative design and other environmental actions in Nairn.

What We Do

Green Hive workshop_edited.jpg
We’re a small enterprise that does big, bespoke builds!

In our workshop, waste materials (often collected from our own local beach cleans, or plastics diverted from landfill) are rediscovered, reformed, and reimagined into unique items - handmade & upcycled, by our skilled team of staff and volunteers.

Our volunteers gain valuable experience in design, skills sharing, operating tools and machinery, and understanding the circular economy. We undertake bespoke design commissions, foster social responsibility & inclusion while opening up a wider conversation about reuse and repair within the community.

Benefits of Volunteering

Alasdair Volunteer Spotlight.jpeg

Volunteering at Green Hive's Community Workshop

provides a unique opportunity to learn and develop practical skills in a supportive and inclusive environment, from operating tools and machinery to understanding the principles of the circular economy.

Volunteers play a crucial role in reducing waste by repurposing single-use plastics, textiles, and timber into beautiful, functional items, thereby directly contributing to environmental sustainability.

The workshop fosters a strong sense of community, allowing volunteers to build meaningful connections and collaborate on impactful projects. Moreover, volunteering promotes personal growth, boosts self-confidence, and enhances well-being by engaging in creative, hands-on activities that make a tangible difference in the local community.

Olusola, Workshop Trainee Staff Member

"Learning to trust myself and being in an environment that allows everyone to be themselves whilst learning how to work with different types of machinery safely and efficiently."

Cathy,  Workshop Volunteer

"Helping to reuse, recycle, and re-purpose and remove plastics from our oceans and create something useful and beautiful."

Gillian, Workshop Volunteer
