Seaman's Hall
Our historic community hub in the heart of Fishertown, offering affordable spaces for local people to host events and activities, and providing bases for Green Hive's Active Travel Hub and Zero Waste Fabrics Store

Seaman's Hall is an historic building with deep connections to the fishing industry that once sustained Nairn and its population. Paid for by public subscription and opened in 1887, the year of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee (the building's full formal name is Seaman's Victoria Hall), it served for many years as a vital public gathering place for the fishing community in Fishertown. Over the years it hosted everything from wedding receptions and christenings to political campaign meetings and demonstrations. There was a strong emphasis on community betterment, and the building originally featured a public library and reading room, as well as leisure and self-improvement activities of every stripe.
Green Hive is committed to recognising these traditions as it continues developing Seaman's Hall for use by local communities in Nairn and Nairnshire today.
