About the Event

Spring Clean 2023 - Beach Cleaning Event Plan

Event Plan for Spring Clean 2023 Beach Cleaning event on Saturday the 18th March 10AM - 1PM

Arrive at 10AM at the Seamans Hall

  • We will have our group action plan at the Seaman's Hall
  • You will decide what area you want to clean and let us know how long you are staying
  • You can borrow equipment that you will need on the beach clean

Bring with you on the day:

  • A waterproof jacket - the weather is scheduled for light showers
  • Bring your own gloves if you have them - gardening gloves are great!
  • You may want to bring along a drink and a snack - we will have hot drinks and biscuits available at the Seamans Hall at the end of the beach clean.

You can borrow these from Green Hive on the day:

  • Litter grabbers - we have a limited number of litter grabbers available to borrow for the beach clean - if you have your own please bring it along!
  • Beach clean bags - we will have our Green Hive green bags available for you to use on the day whilst beach cleaning - these are sturdy reuseable bags with handles and a strap, if you have your own please do bring it along!
  • Gloves - these must be worn at all times when you are beach cleaning

There are 2 areas that we will be Beach Cleaning - you can see the full map here

  • We will be tidying up the East Beach Dunes - we will cover the area between the entry into the dunes at the pier and the East Beach car park at the end of Parkdean caravan park. We expect to find litter and also fire pits in the dunes which we would like to dig out if we can on the day.
  • We will Beach Clean the Central Beach - we will beach clean the central beach as far as the Nairn Swimming Pool, where we can we will collect the litter in the dunes along the Central beach.

When you have finished your Beach Clean and at 1pm everyone will head back to Seamans Hall

  • You can help sort the collected litter into recyclable and non-recyclable piles
  • All of the collected litter will be weighed and the main types of items found noted down
  • Hot drinks and biscuits will be available for beach cleaners
  • You can drop off your borrowed equipment
