Green Hive Builds a Stunning New Sign for Gordon Timber

Green Hive is delighted to announce the completion of a bespoke wooden sign for Gordon Timber, crafted from their very own Scots Pine. This project showcases the synergy between two Nairn-based organisations with a shared commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

A Collaboration Rooted in Local Resources

Gordon Timber supplied large pieces of premium Scots Pine to our Green Hive workshop. From this raw material, our skilled team set about designing and building a sign tailored to their requirements. The creative vision for the project was led by Andrew, our Enterprise Officer, who specialises in prototyping and innovative builds. Andrew’s expertise ensured that the design not only aligned with Gordon branding but also highlighted the natural beauty of the wood.

The dedication of our volunteers played a crucial role in bringing this project to life. Through collaborative discussions, the team pooled their collective knowledge and creativity to achieve the final build. This inclusive approach fostered a sense of camaraderie and ensured that every detail was thoughtfully considered.

Precision Craftsmanship with Modern Technology

To capture the intricacy of Gordon Timber’s logo, we utilised our specialist CNC machine. This advanced technology allowed us to engrave the logo with precision, creating a striking and durable design that pays homage to the company’s heritage. The result is a beautifully detailed sign that marries traditional materials with modern craftsmanship.

Seamless Installation by a Trusted Expert

The installation of the sign was handled by Colin Kinnaird, a highly respected joiner. Colin’s meticulous work ensured that the sign was securely mounted and ready to stand as a proud symbol of the company’s identity.

A Testament to Community and Craftsmanship

Jamie McKinnon, Sales Manager at Gordon Timber, expressed his appreciation:

“We would like to thank Green Hive for the fantastic sign that they have created for us. We appreciate the effort and creativity that went into making it - it has made for a great addition that we are proud to display.”

A Partnership That Continues to Grow

Gordon Timber has been a longstanding supporter of Green Hive, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity and collaboration over the years. Recently, they donated additional timber to our workshop to assist with our upcoming beach cleaning box builds. These boxes, designed to support marine conservation efforts, will soon be placed along the Moray Coast—further strengthening the environmental and community-focused goals shared by our two organisations.

About Gordon Timber

Based in Nairn, Gordon Timber has a rich history dating back to 1862. Since the late 1880s, the business has been managed by four generations of the same family, evolving into one of the UK’s leading sawmilling companies. Renowned for their high-quality softwood timber, Gordon Timber continues to set industry standards while maintaining strong local ties.

A Shared Vision for Sustainability

This project highlights the potential of combining local resources, skilled craftsmanship, and a shared commitment to sustainability. We look forward to future collaborations with Gordon Timber and are excited to see how this partnership will continue to benefit our community and environment.
