Green Hive Partners with Nairn Triathlon to Champion Sustainability in Sport

Green Hive, the Nairn-based environmental charity, has partnered with the Nairn Triathlon to bring sustainability to the forefront of this year’s event. 

In a unique and inspiring collaboration, Nairn Triathlon reached out to Green Hive to craft event medals from 100% recycled plastic and support the pre-event beach clean, ensuring a safer and more sustainable swimming environment for competitors.

The beach clean will take place the day before the race weekend, led by Nairn Triathlon and Green Hive volunteers. This initiative underscores the shared commitment of both Green Hive and the Nairn Triathlon to protecting and celebrating Nairn’s stunning coastal environment.

Scott Crossett, Head of Business Development at Green Hive, said:

In addition to their environmental efforts, Green Hive will host a stall throughout the race weekend, exhibiting a range of products made from recycled plastic. From practical items to creative gifts, the display will demonstrate how everyday waste can be given a second life – transforming waste into something truly wonderful.

The partnership highlights the power of community collaboration and innovative thinking in tackling plastic pollution, inspiring both athletes and attendees to consider their own role in building a greener future.

If you would like to get involved, and help make the Nairn Triathlon a friendly and safe event - and experience the Scottish National Sprint Distance Triathlon Championships from the front row! In return for a few hours of marshalling duties you will receive a free lunch and a memento.

It will be a great day out with a sea swim, road cycle and run along the beach promenade for all competitors.
