Nairn Town Community Orchard

This Autumn Green Hive are supporting the start of a community orchard in Viewfield Park. 16 fruit trees including old and local varieties of apple, plum, pear and cherry will be planted in the area between the old stables and the bowling club on the left of Viewfield Drive. Most of the trees will be supplied by Nairn Allotments’ Orchard Group who have tried and tested many varieties of fruit trees and have given us excellent advice.

The orchard will be open to the public and we invite everybody to use and enjoy the space and benefit from the trees and fruit once they are established.

It will be a space for community events and activities where we plan to hold apple harvest days each year as well as workshops about growing and caring for fruit trees.

The orchard development has the permission and support from Highland Council. The area will be managed and maintained by local volunteers, so if you would like to be involved and to tell us what you think of our plans please email us nre@greenhive.co.uk.

This project is financially supported by the Pebble Trust and Voluntary Action Fund and endorsed by Nairn Museum, Nairn Rotary Club and Nairn Allotment Orchard Group.
