A HUGE thank you to everyone who registered and volunteered to remove over 40 black bags of rubbish from our wonderful beaches in Nairn as part of the Million Mile Beach Clean on September 12th. Maybe you saw our volunteers on the beach last weekend? We also collected and will be recycling some of the recyclable materials which you can see in the photo below. We organised this event in support of Surfers Against Sewage and you can read more about the mental health and well-being benefits of beach cleaning here.
Fundraising appeal
We now need your help again so we can do more in the months and years ahead. We are launching a new fundraising appeal to raise £4,000 to apply for a massive £40,000 in "match-funding". If successful, we'll use these funds to not only remove plastics from the local beaches but then recycle them into something new & valuable to the circular economy - making our local environment clearer & safer & avoiding waste going to landfill or clogging up the sea.
Any contribution towards this amount would be very gratefully received & would make a huge difference. If you can donate, no matter how big or small, please do so here: https://www.hub.greenhive.co.uk/get-involved
However, we are also asking local companies to support us to reach this total. If you have any connection with a local company who can help, please direct them to the Support Plastic Seavolution partnership opportunity here https://www.hub.greenhive.co.uk/get-involved. Further information is available through our workshop lead andy@greenhive.co.uk, who can contact interested partner organisations on your behalf.
As a small THANK YOU - please click here for your free plastic identifcation guide for you to download to help you keep our beaches clean whilst learning more about plastic recycling. Not all plastics are equal. We still have volunteering places available at our plastics recycling workshop and are due to start a new plastics project with Nairn Academy this term. Thank you for your time & all you do for us & the local environment. We hope you can continue to help us make Nairn better for everyone & everything.
