At Green Hive, we believe in the power of community, and nothing exemplifies this more than our recent work at Nairn’s Putting Green. Over a number of days, our dedicated team and volunteers have transformed this beloved local space, restoring the draughtboard and noughts and crosses game areas. Working alongside Nairn PLAY and the Nairn Common Good to get the putting green ready for future works, we’re proud to be part of the movement to keep this area a vibrant spot for residents and visitors alike.
A Brilliant Start 🌿
What a transformation! Thanks to the hard work of Finlay, Lauren, Fiona and Caroline, the draughtboard and benches have been revitalised. It’s amazing to see the difference a day of effort can make, and we couldn’t be prouder of our volunteers. Clearing out the grass and weeds was no small feat, but their determination and teamwork shone through.
A special mention goes to Finlay, who helped Fiona lift the turf. Passers-by couldn’t help but comment on how well he was doing—and we couldn’t agree more! Over the past two weeks, we’ve seen Finlay come out of his shell, engaging more with others and greeting everyone with a smile. It’s moments like these that remind us how community projects can impact individuals just as much as the spaces they help maintain. Well done, Finlay, and a huge thank you to Lauren and Fiona for their efforts!
Calling for Strength 💪
The hard work continued with Caroline, who focused on clearing out the concrete area around the noughts and crosses game. Lifting the overgrown turf was a challenge, but Caroline took it on valiantly. However, as pictured during her heroic solo attempt, the mat covering the area proved too heavy for one person.
Realising the task was bigger than anticipated, we put out a call to the community for help. The mat had started to slip down the grass slope, and we needed some extra hands to lift and realign it. Once again, the people of Nairn stepped up!
A Team Effort 🤝
On Day 3, our call for help was answered. A wonderful group of volunteers came together to lift the mat back into place, restoring the game area to its former glory. We want to extend a massive thank you to everyone who gave their time and strength to help us with this task.
A big shout out to David, Iain, Steven, Roddy and Stefan from Hillcrest as well as Charlie Clark who also helped out tidying the green.
At Green Hive, we know that the success of our projects relies on the generosity and support of our community, and we are incredibly grateful. Thanks to you, Nairn’s Putting Green is looking better than ever, and it’s all down to the amazing people who volunteered their time and effort.
This transformation is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. We’re lucky to have the people of Nairn behind us, and we can’t wait to continue improving and maintaining this cherished local space.
Thank you to all our volunteers—you make all the difference!
